About Coast National Bank

Our History

Coast National Bank was founded in 1997 in San Luis Obispo by a group of local business professionals. As a locally owned and operated financial institution, we understand the community and know exactly what our customers need to live and succeed on the Central Coast. The first Coast National Bank branch was established at 486 Marsh street in historic downtown San Luis Obispo and expanded to a new building at 500 Marsh Street in 2002. In 16 years, Coast National Bank has grown to include three branches in San Luis Obispo, Arroyo Grande, and Paso Robles. We are proud to announce our newest edition, a new loan production office in Atascadero.

We are also celebrating our tenth year in a row as the area's number one Small Business Administration lender. As an SBA preferred lender, we offer four convenient lending centers on the Central Coast devoted to providing the most efficient and affordable SBA loans available.

BOD-Robb Evans

Robb Evans, Chairman of the Board

Mr. Evans has been chief executive officer of three California banks, three "Edge Act" international banking corporations and a Hong Kong Merchant Bank. He has held banking positions ranging from teller trainee to Chairman of the Board. Today, Evans and his organization, Robb Evans & Associates LLC, serve as fiduciaries or advisors in a number of complex corporate and financial matters. He has served as a California Special Deputy Superintendent of Banks and, on two occasions, as a Special Deputy Commissioner of Financial Institutions. Evans is Past President of California Bankers Association. In 2012, he was recognized as one of California’s "Distinguished Bankers of the Year". He and his wife Linda live in Cambria and Bakersfield, California.

BOD-Gene Mintz

Gene D. Mintz, Vice-Chairman of the Board

Mintz is an original organizer and director of the Bank and has served as a director of the Company since its formation.  Mr. Mintz is a business and tax advisor.  A life-long resident of San Luis Obispo County, Mr. Mintz is involved in a number of professional, civic, and charitable associations.  He is a 44 year member of the Greater Pismo Beach Kiwanis Club and a 41 year member of Oceano/Five Cities Elks Club.  He is a Director Emeritus and past President of the South County Performing Arts Foundation.

Mr. Mintz is active in a number of professional organizations and is a past president of the Central Coast Chapter of the California Society of Enrolled Agents.  Mr. Mintz’s experience in accounting, tax, finance, management, real estate planning and development provide a valuable resource of knowledge and expertise to the Board.  Additionally, he brings a wealth of leadership skills from his professional and community positions.

BOD-Greg Gersack

Greg Gersack, Director

Mr. Gersack joined FIG Partners in 2008 as a Managing Principal and has 25 years of experience in working with community banks. He is Co-Head of the Investment Banking group and focuses much of his time on advising community banks on a full range of strategic options including capital raising initiatives and merger transactions. Gersack has an extensive knowledge on the financial services industry gained from his years of experience in the capital markets but also from serving as both a community bank board member and a federal regulator. Furthermore, due to his dual focus on both the capital markets and strategic advisory, Gersack has developed a unique understanding of the strategic needs and initiatives from banks ranging in size from $100 million to $15 billion. His professional experience also includes seven years with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

BOD-Kenneth Karmin

Kenneth Karmin, Director

Karmin is the current Chief Executive Officer for Ortho Mattress, Inc. He is a principal of High Street Holdings, a diversified investment group, and from 1993 to 1998 was managing director at Credit Agricole Futures in London. Karmin serves as a member of the board of directors of JMP Group. He is the company's presiding director in executive sessions. He also serves on the board of directors' compensation and corporate governance and nominating committees and serves as the chairperson of its audit committee. Mr. Karmin previously worked at Drexel Burnham Lambert Inc. in its institutional financial futures division. Karmin is a former director of SF Bay Area-based NorCal Community Bancorp.

BOD-Ronald Olson

Ronald R. Olson, Director

Ronald R. Olson has served as a director of the Bank since April 2000 and as a director of the Company since its formation.  Mr. Olson is a Certified Public Accountant and is owner of Platino Management Services, Inc. which provides accounting and tax services, management consulting and property management services in Arroyo Grande and surrounding communities.

Mr. Olson has been a resident of Arroyo Grande for 38 years and is active in local service and professional organizations.  Mr. Olson is a member of the Arroyo Grande Optimists Club and of both the American Institute of CPAs and the California Society of CPAs.  Mr. Olson is an investor and director of a privately held chain of food supermarkets and a fast food restaurant franchising company. Mr. Olson’s accounting, tax, finance, management, property management, retailing and real estate development provide extensive experience to the Board.  He also provides an abundance of business and community contacts in the market.

BOD-Stephen Taylor

Stephen Taylor, Director

Taylor brings active involvement in community banking to his new post with Coast National Bank. Stephen Taylor is Chairman of Taylor Asset Management, Inc., a Chicago-based investment management firm focusing on small-cap domestic equities. He has been portfolio manager of the Taylor International Fund, Ltd. since 2008. Previously, Mr. Taylor co-managed the successful Chinamerica Fund, L.P., a China-focused fund, from 2005 to 2008. The Taylor International Fund (TIF) has significant holdings in several California-based companies. Its investments in the banking sector include Pan Pacific Bank (Fremont, CA) and Sierra Vista Bank (Folsom, CA). In both cases, the fund was the lead investor in the recapitalization effort for these banks. Mr. Taylor has served on the Pan Pacific Board since 2011.

BOD-Dan Wixom

Dan H. Wixom, Director

Dan H. Wixom, is an original organizer and director of the Bank and has served as a director of the Company since its formation.  Mr. Wixom is a rancher and an owner/operator of Wixom Trucking, LLC.  Mr. Wixom formerly owned and operated Wixom Concrete, Inc., which was sold in 1997.  A graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in Agriculture Management, Mr. Wixom is a fourth generation resident of San Luis Obispo County.  He has been a member of Native Sons of the Golden West for over 29 years and served as a president of the organization.  Mr. Wixom served on the board of the Morro Bay Community Foundation.  The foundation helps with youth activities on the Central Coast.  He supports local educational institutions, volunteering time and donating materials for the Morro Bay FFA and 4H groups and for youth sports teams.

Mr. Wixom is a member of the California Cattlemen's Association, the National Cattlemen's Association, and the San Luis Obispo County Farm Bureau.  He has operated his own calf/cow operation for more than 32 years.  His trucking company is involved in the statewide transportation of construction aggregates and livestock.  Mr. Wixom’s diverse business experiences, together with his entrepreneurial business acumen, bring valuable knowledge and expertise to the Board.

BOD-Anita Robinson

Anita Robinson, President & Chief Executive Officer

Anita M. Robinson s President and Chief Executive Officer of Coast National Bank and Coast Bancorp since January 2012. As a veteran banker for the past 40 years, she is the former and Founding Chief Executive Officer of Mission Community Bank, Mission Community Bancorp, Mission Asset Management, Inc. and Mission Community Development Corporation since that bank’s inception in 1997. She continues to serve as Founder & President of Mission Community Services Corporation, a non-profit small business intermediary, technical assistance provider and Women’s Business Center for SBA Fresno District Office.

She is a past chairman for the California Bankers Association (2007) and was designated as the 2007 U.S. Small Business Administration Central California Women in Business Champion of the year.  Robinson has served as founding chairman of the board of the San Luis Obispo County Housing Trust Fund. She is a past chairman and 20 year member of the board of directors for the Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo County (CAPSLO) and currently a member of Cuesta College Foundation board of directors.  She has for several years served on the Community Cabinet for the Orfalea College of Business at California Polytechnic State University.

Robinson was a board member of the UCSB Economic Forecast Project for San Luis Obispo and is a founding board member of the Central Coast Economic Forecast. She is also a past Chairman of the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce and former member of Sierra Vista Hospital Governing Board.She is the recipient of the 2006 Influential Latino Award by Latino Today and has received other awards and designations including the Mujer Hispana Distinguida 2005 by Adelante Mujer Hispana, 2004 Trailblazer of the Year by Women’s Economic Ventures and 2003 California Polytechnic State University Entrepreneurial Leadership Award for Financial Services.

BOD-Jack Robasciotti

Jack W. Robasciotti, Director Emeritus

Jack W. Robasciotti, age 82, is Vice Chairman of the Board and was an original organizing director of the Bank and has served as a director of the Company since its formation.  Mr. Robasciotti was born in San Luis Obispo and has been active in banking since 1951.  After an impressive 33 year career with Bank of America, Mr. Robasciotti "retired" to San Luis Obispo, where he worked for 22 years in various positions, including manager of the main office of Commerce Bank of San Luis Obispo, N.A. as well as increasingly responsible positions with Coast National Bank.

Mr. Robasciotti has been active in a number of civic, charitable and fraternal organizations in San Luis Obispo.  His activities range from fundraising for the YMCA, to serving as a director and a member of organizations that provide shelter for abused women (Women’s Shelter), Sexual Assault Victim’s Education (SAVE) and (ALPHA) that counsels pregnant women.   Mr. Robasciotti is a member of the San Luis Obispo Historical Society, previously serving as First Vice President, a past member of Hearst Castle Lighting Committee, and of other organizations.  Mr. Robasciotti’s extensive experience in all facets of banking, management and personnel development provide the Board with a wealth of operational and management expertise.  His vast amount of community involvement has provided with the Bank with necessary insight as to community needs.
